Vertical running rod

 

This patents is based on the first patent with tilted rods and was granted in October 2008

The patent with vertical running rod is best suited for large installations and can be used with one or two absorbers. The version with two absorbers, which is shown in the animation, is best suited for areas where the waves move in the same direction over larger periods. For example, on the coast of Portugal, 70- 80% of the waves move in the same direction.

The main module consists of:

  • Two drive wheels on each side of the vertical running rod, which is always moving in the opposite direction.
  • A unique connection of two cam-clutches which operates such that at all times, the correct rotating direction in one of the drive wheels runs the generator.
  • Generator and buoyancy elements.
